I am blessed to have reclaimed my passion. While I painted many

years ago, it is within the last few years that I have returned to the

calming, joyful and transformative environment of the canvas in front

of me.

Pencil, charcoal, water-based oils and acrylic are my mediums of choice. I enjoy

portrait and landscape painting, as well as creating zentangle art. The

use of the color blue (which I am passionate about) in some hue is a

must for my art work.

Marc Chagall, Wolf Kahn, Henri Matisse,Yitzhak Tarkay, Richard Diebenkorn, Gustav Klimt, Van Gogh, Abel Pann, David Hockney and Helen Frankenthaler are among my favorite artists.

My mother, of blessed memory, was a wonderful portrait artist who

had a tremendous impact on me. My interest in art was furthered by

lessons with my late cousin, Ben Schilmeister, a talented graphic and

portrait artist and calligrapher.

Upon retirement as an educator, I began taking classes through the Art Studio of New York, the Louisville (Colorado) Art Association and the Arts Students League of New York.

In 2023 and 2024, I was accepted into the Louisville Colorado's Art Association National Juried Fine Arts Show. The 2023 accepted painting was titled, "Hiking in the Rockies". "Happy Cacti in Carefree, Arizona" was the juried entry for the 2024 show.

In Spring 2026, I was accepted into the Scottsdale Artists League's Statewide Exhibition at the Canopy Hotel by Hilton in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona for the painting "Cacti in Blossom", which received an Award of Excellence. Life after retirement is the time and opportunity to begin a new

chapter and reinvent oneself, as well as see the world through new eyes.

Creating art is more than a hobby. It is a form of self-expression and

meditation that is good for the soul. Each day I thank G-D with

gratitude for bestowing me with this gift.
